Meet the Executive Board
President - Jeffrey Lam
Jeffrey is a Barrett, the Honors College senior majoring in Accounting with a Mandarin-Chinese minor. He served as the Founder & President of Ascend, Executive Vice President of Business Ambassadors, and the Founding Blood Drive Coordinator for Barrett, the Honors College at ASU. Jeffrey is also part of Consulting Scholars, Accounting Scholars Pat Tillman Leadership Through Action Scholars Programs and is one of the founders of the W. P. Carey STEP Program, a mentoring program for high school students interested in business. He has participated in a variety of case competitions including the PwC xTAX Competition and as a finalist for both the 2010 and 2011 KPMG-ALPFA National Case Competitions. This summer, he interned with PwC in San Diego in the Assurance-Audit practice and was selected as one of eight interns in the Southern California-Phoenix market to go to Belize to teach financial literacy to children. He will be starting full time with PwC San Francisco Risk Assurance in the Fall of 2014.
Executive Vice President - Haipei Chang
Haipei Chang is currently a senior honors student in the Finance and Economics programs at the W. P. School of Business at Arizona State University, and one of the founding members of Ascend at ASU. During summer 2010, Haipei studied abroad in China with Barrett, the Honors College. He served as the Spring 2011 Vice President of Professionalism for Alpha Kappa Psi, the Professional Business Fraternity. He is one of 11 McCord Scholars within W. P. Carey and also participates in the Obama Scholars Mentoring Program.
During the summer of 2011, Haipei worked as a Finance and Risk Analytics Intern for GE Capital, Franchise Finance in Scottsdale Arizona. In the summer of 2012, he worked in the Financial Planning and Analysis Division of GE Oil & Gas as a Financial Management Program (FMP) Intern. After his graduation in May 2013, Haipei will begin a full-time position with GE as an FMP Associate, engaging in 6-month rotations with the firm over the course of two years.
Along with Matthew Asztalos and Jeffrey Lam, Haipei is writing an honors thesis that focuses on developing strategies to place Ascend at ASU as the premier organizational resource for students' professional development at the W. P. Carey School of Business. In his free time, Haipei enjoys reading, hiking, running, filming and video editing, and playing basketball."
Vice President of Community Outreach - Chhaya Tan
Chhaya Tan is currently a Senior studying Communications and Sociology. Following the same footpaths as the executive director for Wells Fargo Equipment Finance, he will be enrolled in the VP of sales program when he graduates. Chhaya is also a chair member of the Tempe Wells Fargo Diversity Committee and is an active member of the Wells Fargo Community Support Campaign. In the past several years, he has been very active in the Asian American community in Arizona and is the founder of ArizonaAsians.com. He has spoken at rallies televised nationwide and has been a liason for Asian American organizations across the state. Currently, Chhaya holds the position as an Ethnic Director for Cambodian Americans and plans to combine his 10 years of corporate experience along with over 5 years of community leadership experience to help mold Ascend members into refined leaders of tomorrow.
Vice President of International Outreach - EJ Pan (æ½˜ä¿Šå®)
Junhong Pan (EJ) is a Senior in Management at the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. He is from Lijiang, Yunnan, China. EJ has spent the last two summers interning as a full-time marketing assistant for a dried food company in the southwest of China. He has also worked as an assistant to an American director in China for assisting with the staging of “Crain Wife” during his Freshman year. During 2010-2011, he served as the Vice President of Finance and Vice President of Marketing for the Management Student Association. EJ started his current internship as a Marketing Assistant for LaunchFlix in April, 2011 and is now working as a part-time barista at Starbucks.
Vice President of IT - Matt Asztalos (é©¬å¿—æ¶›)
Matt Asztalos is currently a Junior studying Accountancy at the W.P. Carey School of Business. He is also pursuing a minor in Mandarin Chinese having spent the last two Summers in China - first as part of the 2010 Barrett Study Abroad Program and later as a language student at Renmin University in Beijing. He serves as the current Treasurer of Beta Alpha Psi, the accounting honors organization, and is a Financial Assistant in the professional business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi. Matt has interned with the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services and Education as well as the Department of Commerce's population statistics unit and currently works for the seafood distributor RT Foods, Inc. He aspires to receive his Masters of Accountancy, become a CPA, and work abroad in the growing markets of mainland China.
Vice President of Finance - Dona Chan
Dona Chan is currently a junior studying Finance, Economics, and International Business at W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. Dona is active in the business community at ASU both as a member of ASCEND and as a Business Ambassador. In addition to her involvement in the business school, she is on the executive board of the Barrett Honors College Council and is actively involved as Managing Editor for ASU’s The Triple Helix – an international science and society review journal. Dona is the current Treasurer and Alumni Relations Chair for Delta Chi Lambda, a multicultural sorority, and has served a mentor for freshmen honors students for the past 2 years. She is also involved with The Quanta, a nonprofit that recently won a grant from the Edson Entrepreneur Initiative. In the future, Dona hopes to work abroad in the field of international business.
Vice President of Marketing and Membership - Elindoro J. Rodriguez V
Joe Rodriguez plans to pursue a career in the operations field of supply chain management, and also earn a Masters in Business Administration. Ultimately, he would like to apply his skills and experience in order to start a small music & media production company. With his involvement as Vice President of Marketing for Ascend, also at the university, Joe serves as a Business Ambassador for the W.P. Carey School of Business, the Vice President of Community Development for the Supply Chain Management Association, the Director of Marketing for the Barrett Mentoring Program, and the Director of Marketing for The Triple Helix at Arizona State University.
Vice President of Internal Affairs - Keith Ryu
Kibaek (Keith) Ryu is currently a sophomore in the Computer Information Systems and Finance Program at the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. During the summer of 2011, Keith studied abroad in Paris with Barrett, the Honors College, and worked as a part-time intern at EAN technology and Woori Investment and Securities. He is the co-president of student organization Entrepreneurs@ASU, and serves as the public relations chair for Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Keith is also a consultant, currently working with the Havasupai Tribe to develop a website, database, and excel forms that will further the success of its business.
Vice President of Administration - Rohit Aggarwal
Rohit Aggarwal is currently a Junior pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management and Finance at the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. As a student at Barrett, The Honors College, he studied abroad in China during the summer of 2010. He has served on numerous committees in the professional fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi. He is fluent in Hindi, which is the primary language spoken in India. Has experience working for an export company in India. He is also interested in pursuing an MBA degree after graduation.
